Maison Martin Margiela Two Pieces of Fabric Transformed into a Dress FW1997
An iconic Maison Martin Margiela black wool dress created from two panels of woven fabric stitched together. The panels of the dress are hemmed by a selvedge imprinted with “Made in England…Super 100…Worsted,” which are usually indicative of the last parts on a roll of fabric. The dress was created to highlight the different stages of work that go into creating garments in a couture atelier and is reminiscent of the ancient greek's chiton garment. From the Maison Martin Margiela Fall / Winter 1997 collection.
